4 year anniversary party
EVERYONE’S A DJ 4 YEAR ANNIVERSARY PARTY
Three venues! One wristband! One night!
SATURDAY, APRIL 6TH, 2013
9pm – late
Broma | Lucca | Retro Saigon
EADJ turns 4 and we’re throwing one epic party to celebrate. We’ve got 3 venues with 3 different sounds all in one night!
VENUE 1: SOUND ADVENTURES – BROMA (41 Nguyen Hue)
special guest DJ BOTTIN (the king of nu disco)
support by hibiya line | glaser | superkid
We’ve brought over the king of the nu-disco scene, BOTTIN. His sets are an unpredictable journey into space disco, italo rarities, and deep funk, blending retro-futuristic sounds with contemporary electronica.
“When it comes to nu disco, Italians don’t necessarily do it better. But William Bottin makes a pretty good case” (Pitchfork).
Support by your Sound Adventures DJs HIBIYA LINE and SUPERKID. Joining us will DJ GLASER. He played at one of our first gigs and we’re happy to have him back playing some of his favourite electro tunes.
VENUE 2: ELECTRIC KICKS LIVE – LUCCA (88 Ho Tung Mau)
Live Performances by:
Van Thanh Trung (experimental rock)
Uncon Sci (electronic)
Time Keeper (postrock)
DJ Dan Lo | General Knappe
Recently added to the line up, VAN THANH TRUNG was an ex-member of the punk/funk band, Purple Balloon. His solo work has him blending experimental rock, psychedelic noise and shoegaze. Trung for the first time will be integrating keyboards into his set. Expect some twists and turns.
Our successful band showcase is back. This time we’ve got 3 live performances. UNCON SCI will be playing a live electronic set. He recently released a new album called “Tiger Mustache”. It’s a mix of experimental, heavy beats. It’s an ode to modern bass music mixed with some trippy soulful roots.
Last but not least, we have the return of one of the best Vietnamese indie bands around, TIME KEEPER. They played their debut performance at Electric Kicks and we love them so much we’ve asked them back. They combine classical, experimental, electronic, and indie rock. Think Mogwai/Sigur Ros. What more can you ask for.
DJs Dan Lo and General Knappe will be providing some killer tunes throughout the night.
VENUE 3: SHIMMY SHIMMY COCO POP – RETRO SAIGON (113 Ho Tung Mau)
a 50s/60s/70s rock’n’roll/motown/funk dance party
DJs scrambled edge | jake catlett | Jacques Cousteau |superkid
Are you ready to shake, twist, shimmy the night away? Our 50s/60s rock’n’roll/Motown dance party is back. This time we’re adding in some 70s funk to the mix.
We’ve happy to have for the first time, SCRAMBLED EDGE from the DOSE collective. He’ll be spinning an eclectic mix of 60s soul and 70s funk.
Add to the mix JAKE CATLETT’s ever surprising set of rock’n’roll oldies and northern soul and the party is just about to get jumping.
And last but not least, we’ve got JACQUES COUSTEAU coming out of retirement to help us celebrate. Cousteau was the co-founder of Monkey Funk, a funk and soul night in Beijing in the mid to late 90s. He was also the lead organizer behind the highest altitude dub festival in the world (Mile High Dub I & II in Lhasa, Tibet). He is a funk, soul, Ju Ju, Hi Hi, Mo Mo, Bang Bang and rocksteady DJ so expect to hear some unexpected and rare tunes.
